According to the French site MacBidouille, Apple’s new iMac may not ship until next year. The possibly later shipping date has been attributed to manufacturing difficulties.
If nothing is mentioned, Apple seems to have more problems than expected because of the new manufacturing process of these iMacs, which passes through a system of welding of aluminum under high pressure system, already used to assemble the wings some aircraft such as the Airbus A380.
This isn’t the first time Apple has experienced manufacturing issues, with production of the iPhone 5 being slowed down to ensure that its aluminium band was not receiving any damage.
MacBidouille reference a commercial source from Apple, but we can’t confirm how accurate the report is. If Apple do indeed have to push back shipping dates, expect to see an email sent to buyers.
