Contrary to the belief that Apple’s 2013 devices will be announced at roughly the same time as this year, Digitimes reports that both the next generation iPads and iPhone will be announced in mid-2013 rather than Fall 2013.
Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation iPad and iPhone series around the middle of 2013, which will boost demand for ICs in particular communications related chips during the latter half of the first quarter, according to the observers. Component orders placed by Apple, which climbed to high levels prior to the iPhone 5 rollout, will rise again between March and April, the observers indicated.
This does corroborate with a reported manufacturing trial of the next generation iPhone which is due to begin in December, but don’t get your hopes up yet. Digitimes in the past has had a chequered history on revelations like this, and while there’s every chance that they are right, there is an equal chance that they aren’t.
