The iTunes Store is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month, and to commemorate the occasion, Apple has added a “Decade of iTunes” page to the iTunes Store. The page covers the store’s 10 years of existence, detailing improvements to iTunes made by Apple, and release dates of Apple products which have had a profound impact on the store’s popularity. Also included is a list of the top selling songs and albums for each year, which is certainly interesting to have a scroll through.
The 28th of April signifies the release of the iTunes Store, which was debuted with 200,000 songs selling for $0.99 each. By December of that year, the 25 millionth song was downloaded through iTunes, and the service has grown massively since, with the landmark of 25 billion songs being hit this February.
Take a look through the page on the iTunes Store for a bit of nostalgia, and of course, all the top songs and albums can be bought directly through the page.
