It has long been rumoured that since Jony Ive was promoted to be in charge of software design, as well has hardware design, iOS 7 would be a major overhaul for iOS. Today those rumours may have some substance with iDownloadBlog posting a reportedly leaked screenshot of an early build of iOS 7.
The image details the same UI concept of icons arranged on a screen, but the icons themselves are flatter and more uniform. As iOS has grown over the years, many of Apple’s stock apps have lost their uniformity with, for example, Passbook not having the same 3D gloss that other stock apps have. It looks like Ive has noticed this and has rectified it.
Meanwhile, This year’s WWDC app sports a flatter home icon, adding to the possibility that Apple is in fact adopting a flatter design for iOS 7.
Apple is expected to announce iOS 7, along with a new version of OS X and new Macs, next week.
